Sergie V. Chekhonin Russian Lithograph: Lithograph with hand-colored gouache and watercolor details of a vase brimming with flowers in full bloom. Unsigned, signature of ?Sergie V. Chekhonin? (1878-1936) attached to verso. A Russian artist, Chekhonin was a painter and graphic artist and participated in the exhibitions held by the Russian artist group the World of Art. In 1917 he was admitted as member of the Artistic Board of the Department of Fine Arts, where he designed the coat of arms of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, the seal of the Council of the People?s Commissar, as well as graphic portraits of Soviet leaders, such as V.I. Lenin and G.E. Zinovyev. Displayed in oval wood frame. Lithograph has been cut to fit in oval frame. There are scratches and dents in frame?s finish. Image, 17?L x 21?H. With frame, 24?L x28?H.
