The artist can be certainly described as progressive, as he almost simultaneously went through a similar development as Jackson Pollock, deploying the principle of contingency when working with paint. The present work is characterized by its spontaneity, rhythm of the movement and phenomena of light; a fascinating work, which leaves the spectator with seemingly infinite ways of interpretation. The painting comes in a plain framed and is signed on the lower right 'Vedova'. The monotype is in very good condition with hardly any traces of wear. The total dimensions are framed 70.2 x 71.5 cm, and the fabric is ca. 68 x 67.5 cm in size. Emilio Vedova (1919-2006) Born in 1919 in Venice, the Italian painter Emilio Vedova became a member of the artist group Corrente during World War Two.During the Post War era, he played a key role for the artist movement in Italy. In 1947, Vedova for the first time part at the Biennale in Venice, 1955 at the documenta I, and 1959 at documenta II in Kassel. In 1960, the artist was awarded the Great Venice Biennale Price, in 1990 the Antonio-Feltrinelli Reward. Emilio Vedova's works can be found in international institutions, such as the Guggenheim Museum in New York and Venice, and at the Gallerie Civica d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea Turin.
