Mark Catesby (English, 1682-1749), Dohle hand-colored copperplate engravings on laid paper, titled "Die purpurfarbe Dohle - Tab. XXIV," from THE NATURAL HISTORY OF CAROLINA, FLORIDA, AND THE BAHAMA ISLANDS (London, 1754), matted but unframed. Plate 8 3/8 x 11 3/8 in.; DOA 10 1/8 x 13.75 in. Collector's inscription in pencil along lower left margin; some minor tears and bends to upper edge of paper; minor toning as to be expected.
