DESCRIPTION: Alvar Sunol Munoz-Ramos (Spanish, B. 1935). Two color lithographs on white wove paper. Each signed, lower right and numbered, lower left. 1) Woman holding a bird. Inscribed "Epreuve d'artiste," lower left. In a brown mat with a gold leaf frame and glazed. 15-1/2" x 21-3/8". Overall with frame 25-1/2" x 30-3/4". 2) Woman holding a bird in front of a city. Numbered 230/275, lower left. In a brown mat with a black and gilt wood frame and glazed. 21-1/4" x 15-5/8". Overall with frame 30" x 24". Alvar was born in a Catalan fishing village on the Mediterranean coast near Barcelona and went to school for art in Spain as well as France. He was first introduced to the United States in 1962 through the Monede Gallery in New York. His works have since been exhibited regularly throughout Europe, the United States, Canada and Japan.
