DESCRIPTION: Josef Pierre Nuyttens (Belgian/American, 1885-1960). Two etchings of young women. Includes: 1) Jeanne. 1940. Etching on off-white wove paper. Signed and dated, lower right. Titled and numbered 23/100, lower left. Signed in plate upper left. Depicts a seated woman holding a hat. 10" x 7-7/8". Overall with frame 18-3/4" x 15-3/4". 2) Yvette. 1940. Etching on off-white wove paper. Signed and dated, lower right. Titled and numbered 19/100, lower left. Signed in plate upper left. Depicts a seated woman wearing a hat. 10" x 7-7/8". Overall with frame 18-3/4" x 15-3/4". Each in an off-white wove mat with a black and gilt wood frame and glazed. Nuyttens was born in Antwerp and studied throughout Europe and the United States. While in Chicago he designed all costumes for the Federal Theatre during the 1938-39 season. MEASUREMENTS: See Description. CONDITION: Each with some light and mat burn.
