Kathe Kollwitz DIE CARMAGNOLE (KLIPSTEIN 49) Etching and soft-ground etching, 1901, with a complimentary signature, eighth state of eight, on wove paper, lightstain and matstain, affixed with tape along top sheet edge verso to top mat, old paper tape at top sheet corners verso, some handling creases, an unobtrusive horizontal crease through most of the sheet top left, a 3/8 inch tear at bottom sheet edge (extending slightly into the platemark, 1 3/8 inch from image), some soiling in the margins and verso, some abrasion at left sheet edge recto, otherwise in good condition, with small margins, framed. 23 x 16 inches; 585 x 408 mm.
