작품 상세

(BLACK PANTHERS.) 1919: Rosa Luxemburg Murdered / 1972: Prevent the Murder of Angela Davis. No place, 1972 Silkscreen poster, 34¾ x 25½ inches, in black and brown; minor wear. This poster compares Angela Davis with the early German Marxist martyr Rosa Luxemburg. The artist and publisher are unknown, but the Communist Party USA was likely involved. An editorial in the 22 January 1972 issue of its New York Daily World employs similar language: "World public opinion has responded to the call to prevent the legal murder of Angela Davis. . . . She must not be murdered as was Rosa Luxemburg." A mostly illegible contact line appears in the right margin, with a phone number possibly reading 832-9486. No other examples traced in OCLC, at auction, or in "Angela Davis: Seize the Time."
