Provenance: According to our consignor he and his wife In 1990, ran across a few Chinese posters in Hong Kong's antique district and caught the collecting bug. They found an intrepid woman in mainland China who scoured local markets to pick and choose the best posters she came across. which resulted in a significant collection of orignal posters dating from the 1930s through the 1970s. In contrast to the portrayed enthusiastic people living in abundance, Maos rule brought the most devastating famine in human history upon his people and his 27-year reign was marked by immeasurable suffering that has traumatized the Chinese people to this day. Most of these posters were actually hung during Mao's reign in China.
