Signature and stamp from the artist can be found on the fan. 劉福姚，原名福堯，字伯崇，號守勤，一號忍庵。祖籍江西廬陵，寄籍廣西臨桂。 光緒八年（1882年）中舉。光緒十五年（1889年）任內閣中書。光緒十八年（1892年）殿試位列第一甲第一名（狀元）。授翰林院修撰，充翰林院侍講。思想傾向於維新變法。著有《庚子秋詞》集。
