작품 상세

Artist: F. ERNEST JACKSON (1872-1945) Size: 24 7/8 x 39 5/8 in./63.2 x 100.6 cm The Baynard Press. There's a Lautrec or Degas-like aspect to Jackson's illustration: the performer's back is to us; and there's the titillation of the spotlights beaming down upon her decolletáge, which we are not permitted to see. Her arms are raised in response to the conductor's baton, in echo of the fiddle-heads. Jackson was born in Huddersfield, then studied in Paris before falling for lithography – so much so, he co-founded an art magazine named Neolith. *Provenance: Gail Chisholm Estate, NYC. Proceeds to be donated to Planned Parenthood of New York. (Rail; Travel; Dance)
