작품 상세
Artist: JEAN COLIN (1912-1982) Size: 22 1/2 x 60 1/2 in./57 x 153.8 cm Imp. Bedos, Paris Today, the younger generation chides elders for "sending faxes" or "mailing letters" or "going to the store." What a relief, then, to realize that exasperation over failure to move with the times is perennial. The first electric range was invented in 1859, and became commercially available between 1907 and 1930, but the public remained wary: using electricity for cooking still felt, well, a little weird. Jean Colin's charming, hilarious 1955 exhortation has a bemused scullery-maid fumbling with firewood before the legend: "The electric kitchen, today it's not 1900 any more!" Indeed, it is not. (Product; Electricity)
