OSKAR SCHLEMMER (1888-1943) [FIGUR NACH RECHTS.] Lithograph. 1916. 23 3/4x17 inches, 60 1/4x43 1/4 cm. Condition B+: repaired tears in margins; creases in margins and image; light toning overall; tape on verso at top edge. Paper. Schlemmer was a multi-faceted artist who was a Master at the Bauhaus from 1920 to 1929. He is best known for his work with choreography, particularly his geometric Triadisches Ballet, but was also an accomplished painter, sculptor and designer. Schlemmer reused this image in 1918 on a poster advertising a joint exhibition of work by himself and Willi Baumeister in a Stuttgart gallery.
