작품 상세

Artist: LEONETTO CAPPIELLO (1875-1942) Size: 43 3/4 x 62 5/8 in./111 x 159.1 cm Imp. Vercasson, Paris Throughout his career, Cappiello created a variety of posters for the Biscuits Pernot company. Here, ignoring the old adage that ‘less is more,’ he presents a towering display of candy-colored biscuit boxes, all being proudly attended to by a beady-eyed shopclerk. At the time, the idea of purchasing boxed baked goods rather than ones fresh from the bakery was a bit suspect; therefore, posters like this assuring that such confections were “Practical, Advantageous, and Conservationally sound” were necessary to convince the consumer base that what they were buying was indeed quality. This is the smaller, one-sheet version of the poster.
