The image dimensions are 56.7 x 38.7 cm and the sheet measures 60.5 x 50.5 cm. The framed overall dimensions are 83 x 68 cm. Chester Higgins Jr. (b. 1946) Born in Fairhope, Alabama, Chester Higgins Jr. began studies at Tuskegee University in the late 1960s. After graduating in 1970, Higgins Jr. moved to New York City and began a career as a professional photographer on behalf of the New York Times. Besides, his works were also published in other well-known magazines such as Look, Life, Time, Newsweek and Black Enterprise. In addition to his photojournalistic activities, Higgins Jr. has published numerous photobooks, in which he captured and explored the spiritual and ethnic identity of African people. Besides, his works are represented in major international art collections, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The artist lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
