He then worked for yearbooks and magazines such as ‘Twen’ and ‘Kristall’ until he was hired by the magazine ‘Stern’ in 1964. His reports led him through the whole world. In 1989 Hoepker became the first German member of the prestigious New York photo agency Magnum. With his sensitively captured, humanist shots that deliberately avoid any sensationalism, he coined the photojournalism decisively. Since 1976 Thomas Hoepker lives in New York.
