Very good condition Huang Yan (Chinese, b. 1966) Using the human body as his artistic medium, Huang Yan explores modes of narrative and landscape in contemporary China. Born in Jilin Province, Huang studied at the Changchun Normal Academy and moved to Beijing in 1987. In several series, Huang subverts traditional Chinese landscape painting by photographing faces and bodies that are covered in landscape attributes, either through painting or tattooing. Feng Boyi and Ai Weiwei noticed his artwork, and included it in their controversial Fuck Off exhibition in 2000 in Shanghai. The artist currently lives and works in Beijing.
