The black and white photograph dates to 1925 and was shot by the artist as a part of a series for a book band on the choir stalls at the cloister Kappenberg. The photograph is in good condition. It measures 20 x 14.5 cm. It is stamped on the back with publisher and collector stamps. Literature: Reiner K. Wick, Das Neue Sehen, Klickhardt & Biermann, p. 54. Albert Renger-Patzsch (1897-1966) Albert Renger-Patzsch began photography at an early age of twelve. After he served in WWII he studied chemistry in Dresden. He was the publisher of a number of photography books with scientific illustrations. His style is concentrated on sharply focussed and realistic motives that represent New Objectivity well. Renger-Patzsch proclaimed the view that the value of photography lies in the ability to reproduce the reality of an object. His archives had been destroyed entirely during WWII. After the war he moved to Wamel, Möhnsee and lived there for the rest of his life.
