BIOGRAPHY: Harold "Hal" Wolpoff was an American painter. After a career in radio broadcasting, he became a professional artist in his early 40s. He studied portrait painting at The Art Students League of New York with instructors such as Everett Raymond Kinstler.He was primarily a portrait and figure painter, describing himself as a "people painter" who did not do standard portraits. His work was featured in an interview in the November 1982 issue of American Artist magazine. He exhibited his paintings at outdoor shows, including the Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit in New York City.Later in life, he lived reclusively. He was a World War II veteran and had held one-man shows in galleries across Europe and the northeastern United States. He died alone in a hospital near Ocala, Florida, in 2013 at nearly 90 years old and received a military burial.
