작품 상세

watercolor-tinted drypoint cutout of passe-partout: 36 x 20 cm signed and dated lower middle: Tichy 62 Frantisek Tichy is one of the most prominent figures of 20th century Czech modern art, whose work was deeply influenced by his keen interest in music, theater, and the distinctive personalities of the artistic world. The motif of the legendary violin virtuoso Niccolò Paganini appears repeatedly in his work, representing an ideal symbol of the artist-outsider, oscillating between genius and inner loneliness. The likeness of Paganini is depicted in Tichy‘s typical stylization – an elongated, slightly deformed figure with a distinctive gesture, which appears fragile and dramatic at the same time. The author emphasizes the psychology of the depicted figure, whose movement and expression evoke a passionate musical performance with everrising emotions. The color scheme of the work is restrained, based on muted earth tones and subtle contrasts that support the mystery and dynamics of the moment. Consulted with Dr Irena Zantovska Murray HonFRIBA, Professor Jaromir Zemina, Dr Jiri Machalicky and Vladimir Lekes. Authenticity certificate enclosed.
