Robert N. Sudlow (Kansas, 1920-2010) Untitled (Flint Hills in Winter) 1989 The big sky landscape is signed and dated lower right front. Robert Sudlow studied at the University of Kansas from 1938 to 1942 under Albert Bloch and Raymond Eastwood, both artists represented in this sale, After serving in WWII he returned to Lawrence and served as Albert Bloch's teaching assistant at KU. Sudlow took a teaching position at the University of Kansas in 1947 and continued until his retirement in 1987. During his tenure, he was appointed professor of drawing and painting and was later honored as professor emeritus of art. All the while, he painted landscapes such as the present work, skillfully capturing the mood of all four seasons in the Kansas Flint Hills. Overall framed size measures 33.25 x 43.5 inches.
