Howard FINSTER (American, 1916-2001) and Mark KOSTABI (American, b. 1960): "Arresting the Wrist". Oil, painted by brush and by marker on oval-shaped canvas, matted in a black linen mat, 1995. Both artists signed on the back of the canvas in marker and annotated, seemingly in the hand of Finster "Howard Finster/Kostabi work together - November 20 1995". There is another annotation, also in marker "8-19-98 Azerbaijan". It seems the hands in the center of the composition, as well as the color fades are by Kostabi, while the town and its people were painted by Finster. Framed. With certificate of authenticity from Martin Lawrence Galleries, as well as with their label on the back. Canvas size: 19 1/2 x 23 1/2 inches. Frame size: 26 x 30 inches.
