For much of his career, he was a successful ceramic artist before he returned to painting. His impressive portraits are created through elaborate and expressive drips of paint, a technique that Baird perfected over many years. His resulting canvases are extraordinary in that he is able to extract fine details from the frenzied process of layering multiple streams of paint.
