19th C. To include: (A) Oil on canvas. Unsigned. John Wesley Wolcott (1819-1876). He started a dry goods business in Boston, Massachusetts. He served on the Governor's Council. At age 39 he enlisted in the Massachusetts Battery of Light Artillery and was commissioned Lieutenant. He was made Commander in 1861. In 1859 he started the Commonwealth Hotel in Boston and he also was the proprietor of the Hotel Brunswick and the Hotel Vendome. Sight size: 26 1/2" high x 21" wide. In a carved painted wooden frame measuring: 22 1/2" high x 27" wide. (B) Oil on canvas. Unsigned. Henrietta Louisa Tracy Eustis, wife of John Wesley Wolcott. They set up housekeeping in Roxbury, Massachusetts and had four children. Sight size: 24" high x 21" wide. In a carved painted wooden frame measuring: 30 1/2" high x 26" wide.Both frames show minor wear and paint loss. (A) Some inpainting throughout (approximately 20%). (B) No inpainting.
