Johannes Larsen (1867-1961): Eve in the Garden of Paradise, after Joakim Skovgaard's painting in Viborg Cathedral. Tempera on panel, signed JL after J. Skovgaard 1899 and marked on the back 'Copy in Cassein after watercolor by Joakim Skovgaard Rosenvænget 1899 [hereafter partially crossed out sentence] JL'. 123 x 91 cm. The motif is The Newly Created Eve, and is part of Skovgaard's fresco decoration of Viborg Cathedral. Skovgaard himself has made two watercolors with the motif, where Adam meets Eve for the first time. Watercolor from 1899 is reproduced in 'Art', 3rd year Copenhagen 1901, unpublished.
