A mid-20th century painting by Spanish artist Joan Brotat Vilanova (1920-1990), Unión Mística features two solemn, elongated figures in red garments, tenderly holding a luminous orb at the center of the composition. Vilanova was known for his distinctive, deeply emotive primitivist style and for being a key figure in post-war Catalan painting.
