Literature reference: Klaus Hohn, Reflection of Faith – The Art of Bali: The History of Painting in Batuan 1834–1994. Pictures Publishers Art Books, The Netherlands, 1997, pp. 66 – 69. Early drawings by Tomblos are very rare. It is probably purchased from the Neuhaus brothers, who owned a tropical fish shop in Sanur. Over time, they became renowned as the foremost dealers of high-quality Balinese artworks. This colored drawing captures a religious ceremony in a temple, featuring the mythical Barong. In the foreground, several Balinese women are gracefully carrying offerings on their heads as they make their way to the temple. The intricate patterns of their dresses are a signature of the artist's style. For a comparison, you can refer to page 69 of 'Reflection of Faith' by Klaus Hohn.
