Irish born (1991), London based, artist Peter Doyle likes looking at and talking to people, a lot. Movements, stillness, mannerisms and anecdotal stories are captured either by memory or photograph, and are transplanted into his expressionistic, cinematic paintings. Doyle paints in a literal way, communicating with paint what he sees and hears. At times reinterpreting and manipulating reality to suit his vision. Painted in a bold colour palette, familiar motifs reappear, and patterns are placed out of context creating an imbalance on the surface of the canvas which works to pull you into the work, compelling you to see what lies beneath; an amalgamation and reinterpretation of the places he’s lived, the people he has met and the stories he has heard.
