This painting was created in response to a poem by W B Yeats - Meditations In Time of Civil War. The line : 'Sato's gift, a changeless sword' led me to consider creative transformations. A Japanese garden inspires a fabric design which in turn becomes embroidered cloth that is fashioned into a piece of clothing that, once aged and no longer worn, is used to wrap a cherished sword to present to a poet in admiration of his words.
