Framed, oil on canvas, with vibrant, swirling strokes of color on a dark background, possibly reminiscent of the pop art style. Hilda Epner (1929-2023) earned an M.A. in Fine Arts and Education from Columbia University and studied under Hugh Mesibov and Sam Feinstein, both associated with the Hans Hofmann school of painting. Before dedicating herself fully to her art, she worked as an art teacher in the Pearl River School District in New York during the 1960s and 1970s. She also gave lectures on abstract expressionism at the Sunday Art Seminars at St. Thomas Aquinas College and shared her drawing techniques in talks at the Hopper House. 40 in. x 30 in. for the painting, 42 in. x 32 in. for the frame.
