Federico Schianchi, Modena 1858 - Roma 1918 (Modena 1858 - Rome 1918) - Federico Schianchi was born in Modena on October 6, 1858, to Ludovico Schianchi and Matilde Baroni. His artistic training began in 1878 at the Modenese Institute of Fine Arts, where he was a pupil of Antonio Simonazzi, teacher of drawing, and Ferdinando Manzini, teacher of ornamentation. In 1887 he moved to Rome, a city that became the focus of his artistic activity.Schianchi specialized in painting views, mainly done in watercolor and oil, depicting views of Rome and the Italian countryside. His works are distinguished by perspective precision and chromatic delicacy, elements that give his scenes a serene and contemplative atmosphere. His most recurring subjects include the Tiber with Castel Sant'Angelo, the Roman Forum, St. Peter's Square, Villa Borghese, the Tiber Island, and the Temple of the Sibyl in Tivoli.Ponti ArtIn 1883 he participated in the National Exhibition of Fine Arts at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, presenting the painting Aristides Abandoning the Fatherland. Around 1910, he collaborated on the publication of the Raccolta di vedute romane (Collection of Roman Views) with Edizioni Daneu & C., contributing a series of views of the Eternal City.His works have been exhibited at numerous international auctions, including Christie's, where paintings such as Rome at the Forum of Nerva and Capri from the Sorrento Coast have won significant recognition. His artistic production continues to be appreciated for its ability to capture the essence of the places depicted, offering an intimate and poetic look at the Italy of his time.Federico Schianchi died in Rome on December 28, 1918.
