CONTACT US SKU#: 121394 US Shipping $249 + insurance. BIOGRAPHY: Ernst Oskar Simonson-Castelli was born in 1864 in Dresden. He was the son of the portrait and history painter David Simonson. He studied at the Academy in Dresden with Ferdinand Pauwels, then from 1890 was in Munich where he was a student of his brother-in-law Gotthardt Kuehl. From 1892 he studied at the Academie Julian with Jules Dupres. In 1893, Ernst settled in his hometown Dresden and worked as a freelance painter. There, he called himself Simonson-Castelli from 1898, and in 1899 he was awarded the title of professor at the Academy of Arts in Urbino.
