Forrest King Moses (1893 - 1974) "Hurry To The Pond" Oil on Board. Artist hand signed and dated 1970, and includes tag attached to verso of board. Forrest King Moses was a folk artist whose work reflects an innocence of heart and eye as well as an ever-present, seemingly intrinsic feeling for color and design. His mother was the famous Grandma Moses (Anna Mary Robertson Moses). Born in 1893, Moses got an early start in art, at least when compared to "Grandma." He was a fifty-six year old farmer when he began to paint pictures in a style very much like his mother's, that celebrated a fading rural life in the Adirondack Mountains in Eagle Bridge, New York.
