Born 1936 Cologne, lives and works in Aachen and Stäfa. Untitled. Structure of walls. Watercolour and pencil on brownish paper. Signed lower right and dated «30/7/77». Verso inscribed by a different hand with the names of British statesmen of the 19th century. H 36, W 49,5 cm (sheet). Unframed. For his graphic works, Joachim Bandau often uses old papers that bear traces of their former use. In this case, a group portrait of several British statesmen was probably mounted on the sheet. All that remains are the traces of the glued corners and the handwritten names of the portrayed. Provenance: purchased directly from the artist; since then private collection High Rhine. Für seine graphischen Arbeiten verwendet Joachim Bandau häufig alte Papiere, die Spuren ihrer früheren Verwendung tragen. In diesem Fall war wohl ein Gruppenbildnis mehrerer britischer Staatsmänner auf das Blatt montiert. Übriggeblieben sind nur die Reste der Klebeecken und die handschriftlich vermerkten Namen der Dargestellten. Provenienz: erworben direkt beim Künstler; seitdem Privatsammlung Hochrhein.
