Signed and dated lower right and on verso. Valdis Celms found his interest in cosmic history and traditional Latvian cosmogonic worldview before the Third National Awakening (1980 - 1990s) during the collapse of Soviet utopian ideals and reawakening of time-tested values. Valdis Celms is the author of the research Latvian Ornaments and Signs. Baltic World Model, Composition, Images (2007). In his description of the unified composition of the Universe, referred to as the fabric of the world in the book (pages 105 - 112), the artist also seemingly describes the structure of his op art compositions: Lines of different directions rise from infinity and depths of the invisible world to go back to infinity again, arranged in crosswise rhythmic formations.
