Eugene Lepoittevin (French, 1806-1870). A charming scene in oil on canvas, depicting a cavalier and a young woman, indoors near a hearth. Signed and dated to lower right of EUGENE LEPOITTEVIN 1849, whose work is exhibited in many museums in France and at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Fair overall condition, some damage to the gilt lacquered frame. Rich patina. Measures 7 3/4 in. x 10 1/4 in. (sight), 14 1/4 in. x 16 3/4 in. (framed).
