The stations of the scenic design of the Swiss went through Bern, Antwerp, Paris, Munich and Italy (1857-60). Since 1867 permanently based in Basel, Stückelberg undertook to 1897 again some perennial trips to Italy. The best-known work is the painting of the Tell Chapel on the shores of Lake Lucerne.
