Born in Climax, Michigan, Thomas Eldred became a painter in abstract style, printmaker, and teacher who lived in Climax, Upper Nyack, New York, and Grove City, Pennsylvania where he died in 1993. From 1933 to 1938, he taught at the Brooklyn Museum Art School in the WPA program. He has exhibited at: Art Institute of Chicago, 1932, 1933 and 1936, Detroit Museum of Fine Art (prize), Brooklyn Museum of Art, New School of Social Research, Edward Hopper House Foundation, Nyack, New York.
