This lot features an oil on canvas abstract expressionist painting by Beauford Delaney (American, 1901 - 1979). Delaney was an American modernist painter. He is remembered for his work with the Harlem Renaissance in the 1930s and 1940s, as well as his later works in abstract expressionism following his move to Paris in the 1950s. Beauford's younger brother, Joseph, was also a noted painter. Signed lower right register. Measures approx. 24" x 29.5", not framed. Provenance: Robert Sills Gallery, Inc, Hollywood California (stamps on reverse of canvas). This piece has recently been re-stretched. The auction high for Delaney is $104,000. This piece comes with a letter from William H. Wright M.F.A stating his belief in the painting's authenticity. This piece comes from the Dickenson estate of Knoxville, Tennessee.
