He exhibited one of his paintings at the age of only 19. His artistic and decorative painting combines the objectivity of Neo-Classicism and the elegant sensuousness of the École de Paris. He lived in Nagybánya and Szolnok, the art colonies in Hungary. Around that time he met his future wife, Anna, who became the main model for his figure paintings.
