Oil on canvas. Housed in a modern giltwood frame. Signed and dated lower right "G.Bunn. 85.". Note: George Bunn was born in Brussels but grew up in the United States. He served during the Civil War, sustaining a head wound that affected him the remainder of his life. In the 1880's he moved to Antwerp while working for a Hartford, CT art dealer where he began to paint the marine views along the coast of the Netherlands in the North Sea. In 1887, his work was exhibited at the National Academy of Design. The lighthouse depicted bears a resemblance to the Lighthouse at North Head, Netherlands SIZE: 28" x 40". Overall: 32" x 44-1/2" CONDITION: Good with minor craquelure and touch-up in mast of larger vessel 52829-30
