Alexandre Gregoire (Haitian/Jacmel, 1922-2001) Marché and Basket Vendors, c. 1960's Oil on masonite, Unframed, 8"x10" A musician and military saxophone player, Gregoire, with the encouragement of the artists Gerard Valcin and Prefete Duffaut, joined the Centre d’Art, Port-au-Prince, in the late 1950s. Gregoire is renowned for the whimsy of his Vodou inspired and everyday scenes. Provenance Leon & Evelyn Chalom Collection
