Michetti, Francavilla al Mare, July - August, 1983 (labels on the stretcher) Provenance: Private collection, Italy Hyperrealist painting which stands in the Italian tradition of Magic Realism Condition: The paint surface shows some scratches, minor craquelure and scattered white paint splashes. The frame shows scuff marks and traces of paint. Angelo Titonel (b. 1938) At a young age, Angelo Titonel moved to Milan to study at the Scuola Superiore d'Arte Applicata all'Industria del Castello Sforzesco. He then worked as a graphic designer and art director for advertising agencies. After some time, he gave up this activity in order to devote himself entirely to painting. In the 1960s he moved to Rome and joined the movement of ‘magic realism’. He created a series of portraits of the Presidents of the Republic and other important historical personalities at the Quirinale Palace in Rome.
