A RARE PAIR OF BLUE AND WHITE 'FIGURAL' DOUBLE-GOURD VASES China, Transitional period, ca. 1640 H. 32,2/ 32,6 cm The lower bulb painted with a narrative scene from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the upper bulb with a reclining scholar and an attendant in a landscape, all below a wide band of stylized tulip sprays around the neck. Rhenish collection, collected between the 1970s and 1990s. One vase with glued break at the mouth, otherwise nicely preserved
