"I sketched this scene while on a paint-out with the Montana Painter's Alliance near the Dearborn River and Blacktail Ranch. The aspens were small and nestled along this trail carved into the hillside by cattle. I found the design in value shapes plus the movement of grass irresistible! I later completed this painting in the studio from those sketches and the memory of that day." -D.S.
