K. 99’ on the reverse The work is listed in the online catalogue of the Stiftung Dieter Krieg Dimensions: 252 x 225 cm Good condition Dieter Krieg is considered one of the most radical and most original painters of his generation While Dieter Krieg’s conceptual early work was characterized by strongly reduced forms, his later works became more and more painterly and figurative as of the end of the 1970s. He created especially large size-paintings in vibrant colors, in which the human body and related things and topics, such as life, illness and death, became the main subject. Condition: The painting is in good condition, showing pressure marks from the stretcher and a dent to the center of the canvas. The canvas is slightly wavy to the left part of the painting. The depiction shows several footprints that presumably originate from the artist. The dimensions are 252 x 225 cm. Dieter Krieg (1937-2005) From 1958 to 1962, Dieter Krieg studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe under HAP Grieshaber and Herbert Kitzel. He received teaching assignments and later, in 1978, a professorship at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, which he held until 2002. Dieter Krieg is one of the painters of the Neue Figuration, who turned away from then prevailing abstraction and turned to a figurative painting. Dieter Krieg was awarded with many art prizes.
