Beads and oil on hardboard Nigeria, c. 1969 Jimoh Buraimoh (born 1943) – Nigerian artist Overall dimensions, framed: 98 x 50 cm (height x width) Good condition This bead painting with oil on hardboard of the Nigerian painter Jimoh Buraimoh shows anthropomorphic shapes in rich colors. The work is exceptionally intense through its technique in bead painting and oil. Work and frame are in good condition with signs of age and wear. The hardboard measures 98 x 50 cm. (lez) Jimoh Buraimoh Jimoh Buraimoh was born 1943 in Osogbo, Osun State. He was student at the famous Oshogbo Art School Nigeria and is known as pioneer in the history of modern art in Africa. He has exhibited in Africa, Europe and USA. For example he exhibited at the October Gallery in London, England and at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art in Washington, D.C. His mosaic mural “The Elders” which was commissioned by the city of Atlanta, Georgia, USA and was installed in Howell Park, received an Award of Excellence from the Atlanta Urban Design Commission as The Best Mosaic Mural of the Year.
