Unknown 19thC American Artist in the Manner of Thomas Cole, New York (1801- 1848), Oil on canvas painting of a landscape having a couple standing on a bridge with an old ruin to the side, signed lower left "T Cole 1846, Rivers Return", has a Boston canvas mark on the reverse "JJ Adams, 99 Washington Street, Boston" which is consistent with signature date and a partial Boston Frame label on the back of the stretcher, Purchased by the consignor in the Gloucester, Mass area many years ago. Paint crackle, old gold molded frame which is not original. 15" x 19"w, plus 2 1/2" frame.
