Original artwork by Andy Warhol for a Harper's Bazaar mailer commissioned in the 1960's. Watercolor and drawing by Andy Warhol with writing by Andy's mother, Julia Warhola. The swirling globe is encircled by the writing: "taking you in fashion...bringing you treasure...Adele Simpson and.DC-8F Jet-trader." Adele Simpson was a famous fashion designer of the 1950s and 60s. Her fashions were some of the first to be shipped via air internationally as commercial cargo on the new DC-8F Douglas plane. A large promotional campaign involving Adele Simpson's designs and the DC 8F jet plane was launched by Harper's Bazaar in the early 1960's (see: http://www.britishpathe.com/video/dc-8f-jet-in-fashion-display-at-long-beach/query/Trader). This artwork is extremely rare as Harper's Bizarre destroyed most original artwork in the 1960s and did not keep an archive. Full authentication with certificate performed by Art Experts, Inc.
