Oil on canvas Danmark, 1910 Carl Milton Jensen (1855 – 1928) – Danish landscape painter Signed and dated ‘C Milton Jensen 1910’ lower left Dimensions: 48 x 80,3 cm Frame: 59,5 x 92 cm Provenance: Private collection, Northern Germany Milton Jensen painted his landscape inspired by the renowned fellow artist Peder Severin Kroyer (1851-1909), Wrack at Baltic Sea in Skagen. Nevertheless it is not a copy Milton Jensen modifies the point of view, showing a smaller section of the beach and painted the Baltic see more naturalistic rough. Condition: The inspection under UV light reveals tiny spots of retouching at the left side at the horizon and several larger retouching areas on the wrack. A horizontal scratch mark approximately in the center of the picture was also retouched. There are several At the outer edges, below the framing, there are several sites with color loss. On the reverse, on the stretcher with the handwritten inscription ‘Kroyer vrag – Skagen / Fra Vesterhavskysten’. The frame shows some bumped areas. The oil painting measures 48 x 80.3 cm and the frame 59.5 x 92 cm. Carl Milton Jensen (1855 – 1928) Milton Jensen was born in Slagelse. In 1873 he began his studies, first as a decorative painter by Christian Vilhelm Jensen in Copenhagen, after a year he moved to the Art Academy, where he graduated in 1880.
