Vanessa Beecroft (b. 1969) The Italian performance artist Vanessa Beecroft was born in Genua and studied architecture between 1983 and 1987. She then moved to Milan, where she studied stage design at the Accademia di Brera. Since 1994 Beecroft developed worldwide space-consuming productions with de-individualized, mostly female models that create an impression of still pictures. Unlike classical performances, she is not directly involved, but directs from outside. Vanessa Beecroft lives and works in Long Island, New York.
